Cottage season has interfered with progress, but that's really not a bad thing. And my anniversary was Aug 6 (39 years - how the hell has she put up with me?) so I missed Zfest as well. Dang! But I can back for a couple of days, stole some time and finished the AC installation - photos of the various bits to follow. I wish that I could show something dramatic like a thermometer at a vent, but that requires the system to be filled and the engine to run. Carbs are next on the list, I'm excited about that.

Aug 9 AC 3.jpg Getting all the hoses (AC & heater) tucked up along with the other bits was an interesting yoga exercise

Aug 9 AC 4.jpg Finally, the business end - the compressor mounted. I swivelled it away from the headers to get the high & low pressure hoses out of the heat as much as possible. Service connections installed as well in an accessible area.
            Next up - carbs!

Trial fit up of the manifold showed that there was no clearance for the BMW fan switch. I unsuccessfully searched for a better location for the switch, decided that some crude machining was in order - problem solved.

Headers in place. I originally installed these in about 1980. Still solid so with some wire brush work and high temp paint they're ready for this century.

Aug 14 carbs on.jpg Carbs installed. I rebuilt these a while ago - stripped them down, ultrasonic cleaning, new innards. Didn't want to sand blast them for fear of creating problems - I'm telling myself that the patina is sexy. That's it for this week as I'm going back to the lake for at least a week. I'm really looking forward to firing it up. Just need some fuel line - and the ignition.
